Baseball Recap: Davenport Has No Trouble Against Wagner

Davenport had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Wagner on Thursday. The Davenport Wolves put the hurt on the Wagner Thunderbirds with a sharp 11-5 victory. The match marked the Wolves' most dominant win of the season so far.

Travis Kost was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

Davenport is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-1-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. Wagner's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-7.

Coincidentally, Davenport and Wagner will both be playing Brandeis the next time they take the field. Wagner will head out to face Brandeis at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, while Davenport will play them later in the day, at 2:30 p.m.
