The biggest upset of the week belonged to Maxwell, who took down 567th ranked Chester, 27-22. George Barajas threw for 81 yards and one touchdown and ran for 104 yards in the win.
Kyle Schanuth and Bond Isheim provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Burney. The connection went for 80 yards, the longest such play in Mountain Valley this season.
University Prep's dynamic duo of Schanuth and Isheim proved tough for the Raiders to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Schanuth threw for 292 yards and five touchdowns and Isheim had 160 yards receiving. Matthew Nadeker helped University Prep's passing attack out by catching four balls for 54 yards.
Luis Rolon was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 121 yards on 10 carries as the Panthers beat Burney.
University Prep's Schanuth and Nadeker have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Schanuth has thrown for 1493 yards this season, while Nadeker, a 5-foot-8 receiver, has 26 catches for 427 yards. Zack Martinez from Portola leads the league in rushing with 901 yards.
Martinez of the the Tigers is only 99 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
A big matchup in Mountain Valley this week will be when Portola takes on Robert Wilson's team. Steve Heskett's team is currently in first, while the Panthers are in third.
The Tigers extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Biggs, 42-7. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
