Softball Recap: Wells Starts Season with Win Against Morse

Wells gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Morse Shipbuilders, sneaking past 8-7. The Warriors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Shipbuilders, too.

Delani Brown made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Brown was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Savannah Tardiff was excellent, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Alexa Flaherty was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Morse's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Wells will challenge St. Dominic at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Morse, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against York at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
