Awaken Christian has won four straight games at home, while White Pine has won four straight on the road dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Awaken Christian Lions face off against White Pine Bobcats at 1:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
If Awaken Christian beats White Pine with 20 runs on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. The Lions beat Lake Mead Christian Academy on Tuesday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 20-1. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won four in a row.
Margaux Burney made a splash while hitting and pitching. Awaken Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask White Pine). They blew past GV Christian 19-1 on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
White Pine got a massive performance out of Camden Johnson, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Cecilia Barbosa, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
White Pine's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Awaken Christian, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Awaken Christian has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .590. However, it's not like White Pine struggles in that department as they've averaged .453. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Awaken Christian might still be hurting after the 16-1 defeat they got from White Pine when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Lions have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
