The Rushville Lions were the 60-45 winner over the Batesville Bulldogs when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The match between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with Rushville falling 54-36. Their defeat continues an unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Despite the loss, Rushville still got an impressive performance from Leonie Boyer, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Boyer also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Carly Senour, who scored eight points.
Batesville can attribute much of their success to Sophie Gesell, who scored 16 points along with six assists and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lydia Haskamp, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Rushville has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost ten of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Batesville, they pushed their record up to 13-8 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rushville will face off against Connersville at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Connersville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Thursday. As for Batesville, they will head out on the road to face off against Greensburg at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday. Greensburg presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Batesville in Indiana (Greensburg is ranked 29th, while Batesville is ranked 117th).
