A one-time Georgia commitment, star wide receiver DeVonta Smith
of Amite (La.)
announced Wednesday he is headed to Alabama.
The 6-foot-1, 160-pound senior caught 80 passes for 1,223 yards and 23 touchdowns as a senior, earning MaxPreps All-American honors. The Warriors went 11-3 and reached Louisiana's Class 3A state title game.
247Sports has Smith pegged as the No. 64 overall recruit in the Class of 2017 and No. 9 wide receiver. He also plays on the basketball team at Amite.
Smith originally committed to Georgia in August 2015 but pulled back on that pledge a little over five months later.
His pledge adds to the plethora of offensive skill position stars in this recruiting class for the Crimson Tide, joining quarterback Tua Tagovailoa
