Basketball Recap: Evansville North Falls Short of Gibson Southern in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Evansville North can now relate to. They took a 61-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gibson Southern Titans on Tuesday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Huskies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 63-60 back in December of 2024.

Several Huskies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Libby Blythe, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 16 points. Blythe is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Maddy Walters, who posted 13 points.

Gibson Southern got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gabby Spink out in front who went 6 for 15 en route to 22 points and five boards. Taylor Weyer was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Evansville North's defeat dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Gibson Southern, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.
