Gilbert has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Dreher Blue Devils at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Gilbert focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Friday.
Gilbert put the finishing touches on their 12th blowout victory of the season. They breezed by Brookland-Cayce at home to the tune of 58-17. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Gilbert considering their ten-point performance the contest before.
Gilbert can attribute much of their success to Blythe Price, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals, and Ahleira Leaphart, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Price has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Chanelle Adams, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Dreher, who are still winless after their 16th match. They were outmatched by Orangeburg-Wilkinson on the road and fell 49-18. While losing is never fun, Dreher can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while the Bruins are ranked 57th).
Gilbert's victory bumped their record up to 14-9. As for Dreher, they dropped their record down to 0-16 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Everything came up roses for Gilbert against the Blue Devils in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 59-30 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gilbert since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
