The Manokotak Lynx won the last time they faced the Koliganek Huskies, and things went their way on Saturday too. Everything went Manokotak's way against the Huskies as the Lynx made off with a 53-32 win. Given Manokotak's advantage in MaxPreps' Alaska basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Huskies are ranked 81st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Manokotak was led to victory by Kelisha Gloko and Jesslynn Logusak. Gloko scored 18 points, while Logusak scored 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Logusak has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Vicki Paul, who scored seven points.
When it comes to explaining why Koliganek lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sarah Chase. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points.
Manokotak has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Koliganek, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Manokotak does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Koliganek and the Lynx will face off at 3:00 p.m. on January 24th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Tanalian is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
