The Catonsville Comets will challenge the Sparrows Point Pointers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Having struggled with three losses in a row, Catonsville turned things around against Dundalk on Wednesday. They walked away with a 17-13 win over the Owls.

Kaia Gross made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and nine unearned) runs off ten hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Emily Meiller was incredible, going 5-for-6 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple. Olivia Jenkins was another key player, going 5-for-6 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Catonsville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .551. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Sparrows Point let Western Tech & Environmental Science stack seven runs on them in the third inning on Monday but luckily Sparrows Point prevailed anyway. The Pointers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wolverines, sneaking past 11-9. The Pointers haven't had any issues with the Wolverines recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Allie Roberts was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Alexa Bienkowski, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Sparrows Point picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 5-2. As for Catonsville, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Catonsville has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .475. However, it's not like Sparrows Point struggles in that department as they've averaged .485. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Catonsville got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 against Sparrows Point by a conclusive 8-2 score. Will the Comets repeat their success, or do the Pointers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
