Crook County and Gladstone are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Cowboys will face off against the Gladiators at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Crook County's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Madras with a sharp 10-0 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Cowboys, who have now won three contests in a row.

Kendall Martinez and Chloe McKenzie did most of the damage at the plate: Martinez went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles, while McKenzie went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. Those two doubles gave Martinez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Azsmita Pennington, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gladstone). They were the clear victors by a 19-2 margin over Molalla on Wednesday. The Gladiators haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Ashlynne Franssen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, Gladstone got a massive performance out of Maycee Terry, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was Terry's first of the season. Caroline Ashby was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Gladstone kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Gladstone pushed their record up to 15-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Crook County, their record now sits at 13-11.
Crook County came up short against Gladstone in their previous meeting last Monday, falling 7-2. Can the Cowboys avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
