The Lakewood Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 53-20 loss at the hands of Eaglecrest. While losing is never fun, Lakewood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 190th, while Eaglecrest is ranked 18th).
Even though they lost, Lakewood were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eaglecrest only pulled down 36 offensive rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Eaglecrest to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jada Bobb, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Shyann Farbes, who scored nine points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Lakewood bumped their record down to 3-8 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.3 points per game. As for Eaglecrest, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakewood will challenge Dakota Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dakota Ridge is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Eaglecrest, they will head out on the road to face off against Chaparral at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
