Baseball Recap: Adams Central Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Adams Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past the South Adams Starfires 10-9. The Flying Jets haven't had any issues with the Starfires recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Jami Roach tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over 5.1 innings while giving up five earned runs off four hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Max Byerly, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Adams Central is 3-1 when Byerly posts two or more runs, but 7-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Hayden Bluhm, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Adams Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Adams only managed seven hits.

Adams Central now has a winning record of 10-9. As for South Adams, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-16.

Coming up, Adams Central will be playing at home against Fort Wayne Crusaders at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for South Adams, they will venture away from home to square off against Whitko at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Starfires' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season.
