The Lincoln High Links's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 78-50 loss at the hands of Lincoln Southeast. While losing is never fun, Lincoln High can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 198th, while Lincoln Southeast is ranked 39th).
Lincoln High lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brady Nick, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anania Ruba, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Lincoln High struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Lincoln Southeast pulled down ten offensive rebounds.
Taye Moore continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Lincoln Southeast, scoring 20 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Jake Hilkemann was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Lincoln High has fallen quite a ways from their 17-8 record last season and are now at 2-10. As for Lincoln Southeast, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Lincoln High will be playing in front of their home fans against Fremont at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday. Fremont is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games. As for Lincoln Southeast, they will head out on the road to challenge Lincoln East at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Lincoln East focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday.
