Baseball Recap: Marmion Wins Going Away Against Leo

Marmion won the last time they faced Leo and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Cadets blew past the Lions 9-3. Considering the Cadets have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Luke Young tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Kevin Schultz was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one triple. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Charlie Zebig also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

Marmion is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-8-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Leo, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marmion will host Fenwick at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cadets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Friars have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season. As for Leo, they will be playing at home against Aurora Central Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions are facing the Chargers at the right time seeing as the Chargers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
