Baseball Recap: Gettysburg's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Gettysburg had lost four games straight , but after bumping their record up to 11-6 on Wednesday that streak is in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the Bishop McDevitt Crusaders 2-1. This was a revenge game for the Warriors: when they faced off against the Crusaders on April 8th, they had to take a 10-6 defeat.

As for Bishop McDevitt, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games.

For Bishop McDevitt's part, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joel McNaughton, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Coming up, Gettysburg will head out to square off against West York Area at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Warriors 4.1, the Bulldogs 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Bishop McDevitt, they will welcome Oley Valley at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
