Football Recap: Kamaron Pritchard Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Lewisburg

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Oxford, Lafayette was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with a 31-20 win over the Lewisburg Patriots. That's more bragging rights for the Commodores, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Lafayette's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kamaron Pritchard, who rushed for 90 yards and two touchdowns. Those 90 rushing yards gave Pritchard a new career-high.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Lafayette proved: they limited Lewisburg to a paltry 2.6 yards per carry. While two picked up at least ten total tackles, Pritchard stood above the rest. He rushed for 90 yards and a pair of scores. Lafayette didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.2.

Lafayette's defense didn't let Jacob Manns., get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for five sacks. Xavion Williams refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Another thorn in Lewisburg's side was Williams, who picked up 1.5 sacks and made seven total tackles (3.0 for loss).

When it comes to explaining why Lewisburg lost, don't look at Manns. Despite the final result, he threw for 236 yards and two TDs, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. A healthy portion of Manns' aerial production (90 yards to be exact) went to Cael Riden, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

The win got Lafayette back to even at 2-2. As for Lewisburg, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 2-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lafayette will challenge Hernando at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' defense has only allowed 11.2 points per game this season, so the Commodores' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Lewisburg, they will face off against Center Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
