The Union Cougars are taking a road trip to face off against the South Summit Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Union's pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so South Summit's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Union hadn't beaten Carbon on the road since April 2, 2019 but that history sure didn't bother them on Thursday. The Cougars blew past the Dinos 10-1. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by seven runs or more this season.

Haylee Moynier spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than 13 strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Union got a massive performance out of Teddy Oleen, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI Oleen has posted since back in May of 2025. Payzlei Parrish was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Union kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carbon only managed two.
Meanwhile, South Summit entered their tilt with Gunnison Valley on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Bulldogs 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted against the Bulldogs since May 4, 2017.
South Summit also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Jayvien Clegg gave up three earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sara Duke, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three runs. Another player making a difference was Adeline Aste, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Union's record is now 15-5. As for South Summit, their record now sits at 10-11.
South Summit's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Union has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 12.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for South Summit, though, as they've been averaging only 3.7 strikeouts. Will Union keep running through batters, or will the Wildcats buck the trend?
Union beat South Summit 5-0 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
