Washburn and Roosevelt are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Washburn Millers will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Roosevelt Teddies at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Washburn was able to grind out a solid victory over Duluth East, taking the game 65-54. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Washburn.
Meanwhile, Roosevelt waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with four straight wins but they left with five. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Como Park 60-58.
Roosevelt's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Olivia Wren, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Wren also posted eight assists for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Cady Davis, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Washburn's win bumped their record up to 10-14. As for Roosevelt, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season.
Washburn came up short against Roosevelt in their previous matchup back in January, falling 47-36. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Wren, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Now that Washburn knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
