The Ballard Beavers will square off against the Roosevelt Roughriders at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Ballard comes in on six and Roosevelt on four.
Ballard is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Washington's top teams: Garfield, who was ranked 17th at the time (Ballard was ranked 13th). The Beavers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bulldogs on Tuesday, sneaking past 4-3.

Colette Howren was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one double.
Howren wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Wren Wald, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Another was Ruby Wallblom, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Roosevelt made easy work of Lincoln on Wednesday and carried off a 9-3 victory. The Roughriders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.
Samantha Wright was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Adelyn Bagley was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Roosevelt kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Ballard pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Roosevelt, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ballard hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .345. However, it's not like Roosevelt struggles in that department as they've averaged .332. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ballard skirted past Roosevelt 11-10 in their previous meeting back in March. Will the Beavers repeat their success, or do the Roughriders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
