The Haverling Rams will face off against the Victor Blue Devils at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Haverling is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.
On Thursday, Haverling beat Wayland-Cohocton 6-2.
Kaili Witherell made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryleigh Laverty, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted over her last seven contests. Another player making a difference was Abigail Whaley, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Victor got themselves on the board against Irondequoit on Friday, but Irondequoit never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 18-0 win. Considering the Blue Devils have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Haverling, Victor also got a great game from a two-way player: Ellie Renkie. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Renkie was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Victor got a massive performance out of Kenadee Comstock, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That stolen base was Comstock's first of the season. Ryleigh Fontana was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Victor kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. They are 7-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Haverling pushed their record up to 11-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Victor, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 10-7.
Victor's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Saturday. Haverling has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Victor, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.2 strikeouts. Will Haverling keep running through batters, or will the Blue Devils buck the trend?
Haverling skirted past Victor 1-0 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
