It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the La Costa Canyon Mavericks can now relate to. They received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 32-17 to St. Augustine. La Costa Canyon just can't catch a break and has now endured five defeats in a row.
St. Augustine got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Parker Johnson out in front who rushed for 17 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 70 receiving yards. Brady Palmer was another key contributor, throwing for 225 yards and two touchdowns while completing 74.1% of his passes.
La Costa Canyon has yet to win a game at home this season, leaving them with a 5-6 record. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.0 points per game. As for St. Augustine, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-4.
La Costa Canyon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. St. Augustine will take on Madison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Madison and St. Augustine are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
