The McComb Tigers will take on the Lawrence County Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. McComb is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
McComb had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They claimed a resounding 55-7 win over Bay at home. The result was nothing new for McComb, who have now won nine games by 30 points or more so far this season.
McComb got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jamarcus Pittman out in front who threw for 274 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 13.7 yards per attempt, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Sanfrisco Magee was another key contributor, picking up 158 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Lawrence County's game on Friday was all tied up 20-20 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They took down Mendenhall 44-27. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Lawrence County.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lawrence County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ahmad Hardy, who rushed for 144 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Hardy is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kannon Cato, who rushed for 72 yards and three touchdowns.
McComb's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 47.0 points per game. As for Lawrence County, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record this season.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Friday's game as McComb and Lawrence County haven't had much trouble getting there this season. McComb commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 9.2 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Lawrence County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.5 per game.
