The Whitmer Panthers lost a heartbreaker to the Northview Wildcats when they met back in January of 2023, and they left with a heavy heart again on Thursday. Whitmer opened the new year with a less-than-successful 48-42 defeat to they. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for them in their matchups with Northview: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Whitmer still got an impressive performance from Mackenzie Royal-davis, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds. Those 16 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Bralynne Dunn, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Whitmer's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Northview, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
Whitmer will be playing at home against Brush at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Brush will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line. As for Northview, they will head out on the road to face off against Clay at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Clay is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home.
