The Rivercrest Colts had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.4 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Harrisburg and snuck past 57-54. Given Rivercrest's advantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Hornets are ranked 265th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Harrisburg's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Axel Heeb, who scored 21 points, and Jayvin Thompson who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thompson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Eastin Gray, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Rivercrest is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 23-2 record this season. As for Harrisburg, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-21.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rivercrest will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against the Seminoles at 7:00 p.m. on February 5th. Osceola has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,512 points over their last 21 matches. As for Harrisburg, they will head out on the road to face off against the Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Midland has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 14.
