Simmons hasn't had much luck against Riverside recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Blue Devils will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Simmons is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Gentry 22-1 on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Blue Devils.

Nathaniel Singleton made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last nine games he's played dating back to last season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aden McClay, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Simmons: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Waylon Warren, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Simmons always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .732. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Riverside never got on the board in their matchup last Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against West Bolivar on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 14-7 margin over the Eagles. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won nine in a row.
Lee'Eric Wigfall was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Wigfall was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Jaylon Davis was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Colten Misskelley was another key player, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.
The victory got Riverside back to even at 5-5. As for Simmons, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Simmons has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Riverside struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Simmons might still be hurting after the 16-5 defeat they got from Riverside in their previous matchup back in February of 2025. Will the Blue Devils have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
