The Central Spartans's game last Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top against Brawley by a score of 51-40. That's another feather in the cap for Central, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jared Martin out in front who scored 13 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Martin has scored at least 25% of Central's points. The team also got some help courtesy of David Lopez, who scored 12 points.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Domanic Vallejo, who scored 19 points. Vallejo is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ethan Flores, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Brawley struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
The win got Central back to even at 3-3. As for Brawley, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.
Central will be home for the holidays to greet Holtville at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Brawley and Aliso Niguel will round out the year against one another at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday at. Aliso Niguel is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
