Even though the Swallows Charter Academy Spartans scored an imposing 59 points on Monday, the Peyton Panthers still came out on top. Peyton took their match against Swallows Charter Academy 68-59. Given Peyton's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while Swallows Charter Academy is ranked 287th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Peyton was led to victory by Ayden Breese and Michael Perry. Breese scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks, while Perry scored 24 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. Perry hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriel Gatti, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Despite the loss, Swallows Charter Academy still got an impressive performance from Christian Garcia, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Garcia has scored all season. Andrew Breedlove was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds.
Swallows Charter Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
The victory makes it two in a row for Peyton and bumps their season record up to 7-4. As for Swallows Charter Academy, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with that loss, which was their 12th straight at home.
Peyton will take on Fountain Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Swallows Charter Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Swink at 2:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Swink is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
