Riverdale will take on Mays at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Riverdale will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run two weeks ago, then bounced right back against Drew on Tuesday. Riverdale put the hurt on Drew with a sharp 15-5 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Raiders' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Zyaire Miller was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Miller was even better at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, Joel Rachmann was incredible, scoring five runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Jacob Rachmann was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one triple.
Meanwhile, Mays got themselves on the board against Pebblebrook on Monday, but Pebblebrook never followed suit. They came out on top against the Falcons by a score of 4-0.
Like Riverdale, Mays also got a great game from a two-way player: Tyson Williams. On the mound, Williams didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only a hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Chance Thomas struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those six strikeouts gave Williams a new career-high. At bat, Williams went 2-for-3 with one RBI, while Thomas scored a run and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. That RBI was Williams' first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Amari Robinson, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.
Riverdale's win ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-2. As for Mays, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Riverdale has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Mays struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
