The Bronaugh Wildcats suffered their biggest loss since December 7, 2023 on Tuesday. They were the victim of a tough 61-40 defeat at the hands of Sheldon. Bronaugh has struggled against Sheldon recently, as their game on Tuesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Strauss Banes, who scored 19 points. That was a full 47.5% of Bronaugh's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Tucker Duncan, who scored eight points along with six assists and three steals.
Sheldon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Riley Chapman led the charge by going 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 2 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Chapman has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Bogart, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds.
Bronaugh dropped their record down to 10-9 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Sheldon, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-6.
Bronaugh will be playing in front of their home fans against Kingsville at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Sheldon, they will head out on the road to square off against Miami at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Miami comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
