Edgewood is 9-1 against West Vigo since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Edgewood Mustangs will head out on the road to challenge the West Vigo Vikings at 7:30 p.m. Edgewood is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
Last Saturday, Edgewood came up short against Bedford North Lawrence and fell 55-43. While losing is never fun, Edgewood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 250th, while Bedford North Lawrence is ranked 55th).
The losing side was boosted by Jacob Boggs, who scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Caden Jones, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, West Vigo didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Indian Creek on Saturday, but they still walked away with a 58-54 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for West Vigo.
Edgewood's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for West Vigo, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
Edgewood was able to grind out a solid victory over West Vigo in their previous matchup back in March of 2023, winning 68-59. Does Edgewood have another victory up their sleeve, or will West Vigo turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
