In what's become a running theme this season, the Lapwai Wildcats gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 64-24 victory over Genesee. Winning may never get old, but Lapwai sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Lapwai was led to victory by Jayden Leighton and Skylin Picard. Leighton scored ten points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Picard scored 18 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Samara Powaukee, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Lapwai pushed their record up to 14-5 with that victory, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 39.15 points. As for Genesee, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-8 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lapwai won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Clearwater Valley at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Clearwater Valley is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Genesee, they will play host again and welcome Kamiah, where tip off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Kamiah and Genesee are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
