Softball Recap: James Monroe Has No Trouble Against Graham

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Independence, James Monroe was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 20-9 margin over the Graham G-Men. With that victory, the Mavericks brought their scoring average up to 8.2 runs per game.

James Monroe let Peighton Griffith and Chloe Bert run wild. Griffith went 4-for-6 with five RBI, three doubles, and two runs, while Bert scored three runs while going 4-for-4. Bert also brought in three RBI, marking her first of the season. Peyton Street was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

James Monroe always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .596. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Graham only posted an OBP of .412.

The win got James Monroe back to even at 2-2. As for Graham, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Coming up, James Monroe will square off against PikeView at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The match will give the Mavericks their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Graham, they will face off against Bluefield at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th.
