For the first time this season, Kuna will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing at home against the Owyhee Storm at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Kuna sitting on four straight victories and Owyhee on 28 (dating back to last season).
Kuna is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Meridian on Wednesday as Kuna made off with a 13-5 win. While the Kavemen didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Ayden Schnitker looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, Kaleb Olsen was a standout: he scored a run while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Rasmussen, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Owyhee sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over Borah on Thursday.
Owyhee also got a great performance from Bryce Tam as he struck out ten batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits (and only one walk).
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gage Haws, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Easton Price, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
Owyhee pushed their record up to 10-0 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Kuna, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Kuna has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .491. However, it's not like Owyhee struggles in that department as they've averaged .507. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Kuna suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to Owyhee in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will Kuna have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
