Softball Recap: Santo Extends Winning Streak to Four

Santo waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Huckabay Indians as they made off with an 8-1 win. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.

Maddie Koonce made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Kamryn Castillo and Maddie Griffith did most of the damage at the plate: Castillo scored three runs and stole four bases while going 1-for-4, while Griffith scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Myranda Cain, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Santo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive matchups.

Santo now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Huckabay, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Santo will welcome Stephenville FAITH at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.93 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Huckabay, they will face off against Strawn at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
