The Silver Bluff Bulldogs came tearing into Wednesday's contest with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.9 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past McCormick with points to spare, taking the game 69-52. Given Silver Bluff's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while McCormick is ranked 212th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Silver Bluff to victory, but perhaps none more so than Krystal Johnson, who almost dropped a triple-double on 21 points, 15 rebounds, and nine steals. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Makya Bing, who scored 19 points along with five assists and four steals.
Silver Bluff pushed their record up to 12-1 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.6 points per game. As for McCormick, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.
Silver Bluff will head out on the road to challenge Strom Thurmond at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Strom Thurmond focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Tuesday. As for McCormick, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Whitmire at 6:00 p.m.
