The Gateway Christian Warriors were the 40-38 winner over the Quemado Eagles when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Gateway Christian fell 50-39 to Quemado on Saturday.
Despite the loss, Gateway Christian saw an underclassman step up: Victor Oaxaca scored 11 points along with 7 rebounds. Oaxaca is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacoby Chavez, who scored 7 points.
Gateway Christian now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Quemado, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
Gateway Christian will be playing at home against Capitan at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday. As for Quemado, they will head out on the road to face off against Escalante at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday.
