The Franklinton Rams pushed their score all the way to 60 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Roanoke Rapids 65-60. Franklinton lost against Roanoke Rapids in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 67-35 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Franklinton lost, one person who can't be blamed is Markelle Massenburg. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Sean Smith was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Franklinton's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Roanoke Rapids, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
Franklinton will be playing at home against Nash Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Roanoke Rapids, they will head out on the road to face off against Southern Nash at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southern Nash has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
