The Hillcrest Jaguars scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. Couldn't have asked for a better start to 2024 than the 47-20 blowout they got on the road against W.S. Neal. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 31-7.
Among those leading the charge was Sonija Evans, who scored 11 points along with eight steals and six assists. Those six assists set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Arreon "Tweety" Lopez, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Hillcrest and bumps their season record up to 4-7. As for W.S. Neal, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hillcrest's road trip will continue as they head out to face Straughn at 6:00 p.m. on January 4th. Straughn presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Hillcrest in Alabama (Straughn is ranked 142nd, while Hillcrest is ranked 301st). As for W.S. Neal, they will head out on the road to face off against Excel at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Excel is on a three-game streak of home losses, W.S. Neal a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change.
