Even though the Atkinson County Rebels have not done well against the Lanier County Bulldogs recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Atkinson County came out on top against Lanier County by a score of 53-42. The win made it back-to-back wins for Atkinson County.
Atkinson County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ja'Kari Northcutt, who scored 14 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Northcutt has scored at least 25% of Atkinson County's points. Savanna Williams was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Atkinson County is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Lanier County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Atkinson County will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Clinch County at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th. As for Lanier County, they will take on Charlton County at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
