On Friday, the Dawson Eagles kept a clean sheet against the Alief Elsik Rams. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Rams. Given Dawson's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Alief Elsik is ranked 311th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dawson was led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Mikaela Bravo and
Melanie Lagor, who scored both of Dawson's goals. The pair have combined for a total of nine so far this season.
Dawson is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3-1 record this season. As for Alief Elsik, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dawson will square off against Alvin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dawson is facing Alvin at the right time seeing as Alvin is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Alief Elsik, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Pearland at 7:30 p.m. on February 20th.
