Michigan Lutheran stacked a tenth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past Covert, posting a 70-41 victory on the road.
Zac Lockman was nothing short of spectacular: he scored 13 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Ty Johnson, who scored 17 points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought game, but New Buffalo had to settle for a 47-44 loss against Howardsville Christian on Thursday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for New Buffalo in their matchups with Howardsville Christian: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite their loss, New Buffalo saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Samuel Tripp, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two blocks, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of M'nason Smothers, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Michigan Lutheran is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for New Buffalo, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-9.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Michigan Lutheran have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 36.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like New Buffalo struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
