The Trinity Christian Gryphons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their sixth straight defeat. Their tough 78-55 loss to Fredericksburg Christian might stick with them for a while. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Trinity Christian in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost seven in a row.
Leading Fredericksburg Christian to victory were Carter Johnson and Christan Smith. Johnson scored 15 points along with four steals, while Smith almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine assists. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Isaac Holst was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds.
Trinity Christian's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Fredericksburg Christian, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Trinity Christian will take on the Warriors at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Immanuel Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Friday. As for Fredericksburg Christian, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Conquistadors at 7:15 p.m. on February 6th. Seton presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Eagles in Virginia (the Conquistadors are ranked 38th, while the Eagles are ranked 142nd).
