The Tulelake Honkers were the 36-0 winner over the Loyalton Grizzlies when they last played one another back in September, but their luck changed this time around. Tulelake fell just short of Loyalton by a score of 27-24. Tulelake has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Adam Smeltzer was the offensive standout of the match as he picked up 96 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.
Tulelake's loss dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Loyalton, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Tulelake will be playing at home against Burney at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Burney will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Loyalton, they will head out on the road to face off against Sierra Lutheran at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sierra Lutheran presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Loyalton in their respective states (Sierra Lutheran is ranked 11th in Nevada, while Loyalton is ranked 65th in California).
