Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Linden). Everything went their way against Big Valley Christian on Saturday as they made off with an 18-4 win. The victory was nothing new for Linden as they're now sitting on ten straight.
Marco Holguin and Matthew Schallberger made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Holguin pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Schallberger didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 12 consecutive appearances. At bat, Holguin went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run, while Schallberger got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most RBI Holguin has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Linden got a massive performance out of Jake Daluz, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits Daluz has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Braden Busalacchi, who got on base in three of his six plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Linden kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Big Valley Christian only managed five hits.
Linden's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-4. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Big Valley Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-13-1 record this season.
