Pender strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They strolled past the Anson Bearcats with points to spare, taking the game 46-28.

Pender's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Austin Deal led the charge by rushing for 155 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 14 carries. Those 155 rushing yards gave Deal a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of ZyQuan Murphy, who rushed for 90 yards and two TDs on only six carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Pender was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 448 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Pender's record is now 5-0. As for Anson, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Pender wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 56-39 victory against Clinton on the 3rd. As for Anson, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 38-17 win against West Stanly on the 3rd.
