Softball Recap: Northwood Has No Trouble Against Oberlin

The Northwood Gators got the win against the Oberlin Tigers on Monday by a conclusive 19-4. Considering the Gators have won 15 matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Jalen Ambrose was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Alaya Cornett was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Northwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .643. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .379 or higher in six consecutive contests.

Northwood is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Oberlin, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northwood will square off against Ebarb at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oberlin, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hackberry at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
