While losing is never fun, Oak Grove can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 235th, while Asheboro is ranked 79th).
Oak Grove lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Max Hurt, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for him. JB Shabazz was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds.
Oak Grove's loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 6-8. As for Asheboro, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 13-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oak Grove will play host again and welcome North Davidson, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in North Davidson's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matchups. As for Asheboro, they will be playing at home against Central Davidson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
