The Bath County Wildcats suffered their biggest loss since December 21, 2023 on Thursday. They were dealt a 69-39 defeat at the hands of Rowan County. While losing is never fun, Bath County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 225th, while Rowan County is ranked 48th).
Rowan County had a senior duo take command as Colby Wilburn scored 23 points and Dashawn Watson scored 16 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Wilburn has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 15 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Brayden Mirus, who scored nine points.
Bath County's defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Rowan County, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-6.
Bath County will look to defend their home court on Monday against Raceland at 7:30 p.m. Raceland knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully Bath County likes a good challenge. As for Rowan County, they will head out on the road to challenge Menifee County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
