Easton Leon was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mountain View, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Liberty a 4-0 shutout on Thursday.
Not much got past Justice Yanke, who gave up just five hits to keep Liberty off the board. Yanke also tossed a walk, which is notable because Mountain View is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-7 otherwise.
At the plate, Beckham Barney was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Mountain View's win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-8. As for Skyline, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-4.
Mountain View's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Skyline hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .330. It's a different story for Mountain View, though, as they've only averaged .256. Will they be able to contain Skyline's hitters?
